Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to rewire itself. It’s how the brain repairs itself in people who overcome strokes and brain injuries. It’s also the main mechanism for learning and gaining new skills.

With consistent practice, the brain can we can rewire our brains to produce desired outcomes. Creativity, success, better moods, stress management, and overall health can all be improved by training the brain.

Neuroplasticity for Creativity

We can cultivate our creative side by tapping into our neuroplasticity. Creativity is a result of divergent thinking.

Divergent, also known as lateral thinking, is a way of approaching a problem. In divergent thinking, people come up with multiple, alternate or creative solutions to the same problem.

When we’re children, we tend to think more divergently. However, we’re trained out of it in favor of convergent thinking.

Example: A cat is stuck in the tree. How do we get it down?

In convergent thinking, the only solution is to go up in the tree and get the cat.
