Bad ASMR Videos ThatTrigger my Misophonia

These sounds make my skin crawl and not in a good way

The first time I learned about ASMR I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t know exactly what it was, but I liked the videos that had a satisfying quality to them.

ASMR or autonomous sensory meridian response results in a tingling feeling that creeps from top of your head to the back of your neck. It’s an enjoyable sensory experience.

It’s like the feeling you get when someone runs their fingers ever-so-gently through your scalp or getting a shampoo at the salon.

There are certain sounds that I find enjoyable, and I can listen to them for hours. Those sounds are a knife slicing through sand, smooth-soled shoes walking across sand or gravel, and the crunching of lava rocks beneath shoes.

I like those sounds, but I don’t get tingles from them.

However, some sounds actually make me angry — angry enough to punch the person making that sound in the face. Those sounds include chewing noises, wet mouth sounds, mouth clicks from radio and tv voice actors. All of these make me angry to the point of violence.

This response is called misophonia. It happens when certain sounds trigger unpleasant feelings like anger, fear, anxiety and even evoking…
